Capriccio (A poem)

here is how music is like life -

you have to practice a lot if you want to get better at it
there are a lot of dischords and squeaky breaking notes
lots of it sounds the same, from a distance

often it isn't anything but noise and strife, and
you wonder if it is the tune, our your hearing, that's broken

sometimes it makes your heart ache and ache and
sometimes it calls out ghosts to dance on the head of a pin

and sometimes

just sometimes

it calls out the wildest,

the most nonsensical,
